In Acts 18, the story is told of a couple, Priscilla and Aquila, who were co-workers with the Apostle Paul in the spread of the gospel. What has always inspired me about their outreach for Jesus is that these workers, including Paul himself, had what we might call "regular" occupations as tentmakers which supported their personal needs. This way, the offerings they collected could be used to support their ministry -- 100%.
It is this example that we have used as the pattern for how donations are used here at Transformation Garden.
100% of all of the gifts we have received have been used for the work of the Garden around the world. And now, as of January, 2013, Transformation Garden is defined by the Internal Revenue code as a 501c (3). This means, to quote the letter I received from the Internal Revenue Service, that "contributions are deductible." Although the application and approval process was lengthy, this non-profit status now makes it easier and more cost-effective for some of our Transformation Garden friends to donate, and I'm so grateful to God for this.
The important thing for you to know is that we DO NOT solicit donations by mail. What we will do is post the monthly projects we are undertaking on-line on our Priscilla's Purse web page. If you choose to go to the "Donation" page and read about what we are doing around the world, that's fantastic. Should you wish to send a tax-deductible gift, you will receive a receipt.
As I've shared with you in the past, this is a free website. The bookmarks are sent without obligation -- they are free, too!
I never want anyone to turn away from Transformation Garden because they are worried they will be bombarded with requests for money. Nor do I want anyone to feel uncomfortable recommending Transformation Garden to a loved-one or friend in need because they are worried about pleas for money being sent to someone they long to help. This will never occur.
If now or in the future, you feel impressed, as quite a few of you have, to support the work of Transformation Garden financially, please take a look at the current projects which we are funding this month by filling out the information on the right and clicking on make a donation.
